Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) has contracted Clark Nexsen and RWD to create a new visitor center for the Fort Fisher State Historic Site. The center will replace an existing facility. Visitation has increased dramatically since the initial center was built in 1965, and it no longer meets the functional requirements of staff, nor does it provide the cultural amenities that a contemporary audience expects. The new center will act as teaching tool for interpreting the myriad and often times intertwined stories of Fort Fisher.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The proposed project will include demolition of the existing facility and construction of a new 19,916 square foot building. Of that, 3,300 square feet will be dedicated to permanent curated exhibits and changing exhibits.
